The Home Stretch

Wow. It is going by so fast. In 4 short weeks we will have another boy in this house. Crazyness times 2. We have been enjoying the last few months with our son before his brother's arrival. They have been an eventful time as this baby has not been as nice to Amie as Xavi was during his time in the womb.

The long "boring" winter months with a 2 year old boy have been quite the experience. We experienced a nice amount of snow for our area and Xavi loved every minute he was able to play outside and run around in it. He would probably get frostbite if we did not make him come inside and of course he cried for quite a while every time we made him come in.


In order to engage Xavi and his energy we spent a lot of time in the basement, whether that was in the ball being rolled around the basement (more of a workout for Daddy) or "playing" football, basketball, soccer, hockey, or lacrosse.

I'll be honest...I want Xavi to like soccer. His sport of choice currently is probably football as he seems to like the gentle tackles and the running. So, the question is "How do i get him to like soccer more?"








Answer: I have taken to overly celebrating EVERY goal that he scores. Is this manipulative? Yes. Does it mean i will stop doing it? Not a chance.


The big thing that Xavi really enjoys is driving/riding on his little ATV. He does lots of tricks, stands up, sits with his legs over the handle bars, rides sideways, etc... I am sure he will give us heart attacks when he gets older.


Recently, I was outside with Xavi on a nice, yet cool weekend day. I opened the back gate and Xavi decided he wanted to go "explore" beyond the fence. He made a beeline for the gate and then started walking off into the woods to explore. He got bored rather quickly and decided to go back to his swing set for more fun sliding down the slide.

He also loves to attend flag football games that I play in, and wants to be called "coach" and where his football jersey whenever possible. He doesn't really watch too often (although he has been known to). Usually he picks up a football and runs around with it, or finds a good mud puddle that could use his assistance. He is an excellent "mud puddle organizer" and frequently receives comments and looks wondering "Who's kid is that?"

Please keep in mind, this is not happening in private retail stores, such as a bookstore, but at parks and places like that.

Other fun facts:

Xavi has a shoe fascination (must be genetic as both of his uncles do as well).

Xavi enjoys family togetherness. We thought he may be our leaver, but he enjoys when everyone is together...specifically Dadu, Gigi, Mommy and Daddy, but that is also known to include Jon, Jo, and "jon's baby"

He has really started to talk quite a bit and while not many people can speak "Xavinese" he is getting better at English and others are getting better at figuring out what he is saying.

He really has wanted to go to Isaac's house lately, so we may show up in Minnesota one day because of Xavi's insistence.

Overall he is really fun and he can't wait for the baby to come out as he insistently pleads quite often. Take a look at the pictures and we hope to see many of you in the summer!
